COLONEL HOLDS LEAD, MITCHUM LURKING

Curt "Colonel" Sanders, PGA fired a second round 2-under, 70 to hold onto the lead by one shot over
Kelly Mitchum, PGA of Pinehurst CC.  Sanders struggled to an even par on the front side and then carded
a 2-under, 34 on the back to secure himself atop the leaderboard after day two.  Sanders had it going
early on the back side, birdying 3 of his first 4 holes and hung on for a 2-day total of 7-under
dispite bogeying the difficult 18th.  Sanders again holds the second round lead going into the final round
for the second consecutive CPGA major championship.  His closest pursuer is reigning CPGA Player of
the Year and defending champion, Kelly Mitchum.

Mitchum fired a 6-under, 66 to to trail the Colonel by just one shot.  Kelly went out in 32 and then crusied
to a 34 on the back side for a 2-day total of 6-under par.  Both men dueled one another at the South
Carolina Open last month, with Kelly coming from two groups behind to take the crown.  This time around
both gunslingers will be face to face as they will be paired together on Thursday.  It promises to be a
battle to the finish as the Colonel looks to capture his first CPGA major crown.  While Kelly looks to
continue his dominance of the CPGA tournament circuit.

The field was reduced to the low 44 players at 7-over par, 151. The top ten finishers of the CPGA Section Professional Championship will qualify for next year's Professional
National Championship, with a shot to qualify for the PGA Championship from there.

The final round will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, with the leaders teeing off at 9:03 a.m.
