PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Daniel Island Club - Daniel Island, SC
September 18 - 20, 2007

SANDERS TAKES EARLY LEAD

Curt "Colonel" Sanders (PGA Professional - Eagle Point GC) fired a 5-under, 67 to take the first round lead
of the 2007 Carolinas PGA Professional Championship.  Sanders, who has found himself at the top of recent
leaderboards at CPGA Majors, recorded six birdies, one bogey and 11 pars to take the first round lead by
one shot.  His sole bogey came on the difficult par 3, 9th where he three-putted.  Dispite his three-putt
on the 9th, the Colonel credited his stellar play to his putting.  He had only 29 putts on his round, and
dropped two bombs of over 40 feet on holes #2 and #12 for birdies.

In second place, and just one shot off the lead is Cory Schneider, PGA from Powells Point, NC carded a
4-under, 68.  Bill, McDonald, PGA and Steve Isley, PGA both are tied for third at 3-under, 69.

The field consists of Carolinas PGA Class A Professionals from both North and South Carolina, who are
vying for the $60,000 purse.  The winner of this year's event will receive $7,200 and 200 points in the
coveted Carolinas PGA Player of the Year Points race.  The field will be reduced to the low 40 scorers
and ties upon completion of 36 holes.  The Carolinas PGA Section Championship has been conducted
since 1923.

The top ten finishers of the CPGA Section Professional Championship will qualify for next year's Professional
National Championship, with a shot to qualify for the PGA Championship from there.

The Second round will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  First round results to follow.
