JULIAN KEUR, VICTORIA HUSKEY CAPTURE 2014 CAROLINAS JUNIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

Greensboro, NC - Julian Keur of Summerville, SC and Victoria Huskey of Greenville, SC won the 2014 Carolinas Junior PGA Championship presented by Under Armour and Genesis Networks Sunday, June 29 at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC.

              By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively, Keur and Huskey qualified for the 39th  Junior PGA Championship presented by Under Armour and Genesis Networks, July 29-Aug. 1, 2014, at Miramont Country Club in Bryan/College Station, Texas. Keur, age 18, played 36-holes with only two bogies and posted two consistent rounds of 69 for a total of 138 and a 2-stroke victory over Kobdech Rodrat of Hilton Head Island, SC. Even with wet conditions after the 45-minute rain delay on Saturday, Huskey, age 16, posted a score of 69 to give a comfortable 3-stroke lead into the second round. Her impressive back nine 31 (-5) was the lowest 9-hole score in the entire field. She finished round 2 with a 70 for a two-day total of 139 and a 7-stroke victory over Cake Phuchanbanchob of Hilton Head Island, SC.

              The Junior PGA Championship, Presented by Under Armour and Genesis Networks, is open to one boy and one girl champion from each of the 41 PGA Sections, champions of the eight PGA Junior Series events, select national junior tournaments conducted throughout the year and special invitees who have yet not reached their 19th birthdays as of the final round of the championship.

              First, Second, and Third place contest winners include: Girls’ Overall Champion: Huskey, Victoria (139); Boys’ Overall Winner: Julian Keur (138); Girls’ Age 12 & Under: 1. Talledo, Mary Kathryn; Girls’ Age 13-15: 1. Tindal, Jodee 2.Todakoro, Sera 3. Fesperman, Hannah; Girls’ Age 16-18: 1. Huskey, Victoria 2. Phuchanbanchob, Cake 3. Beckel, Kasidy; Boys’ 12 & Under: 1. Mohan, Narayan 2. Hyman Jr., Johnny 3. Flintom, John; Boys’ Age 13-15: 1. Rodrat, Kobdech 2. Golden, Patrick 3. Cress, Walker; Boys Age 16-18: 1. Julian Keur 2. Patterson, Cole 3. Talledo, Patrick.

              The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally been a stepping-stone for many of today’s PGA and LPGA Tour professionals as well as current collegiate stars. Past Junior PGA Championship competitors who have gone on to successful professional careers include: In-Bee Park, Jim Furyk, Luke Guthrie, Trevor Immelman, Cristie Kerr, Justin Leonard, Michelle McGann, Phil Mickelson, Grace Park, Dottie Pepper, Jordan Spieth, David Toms, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie and Tiger Woods.
